As a dedicated instructor and student, I practice, train and compete to ensure continual improvement in my performance, maximizing my efforts and putting my skills to the test. Then I pass along learnings to my students, sharing the most relevant, current and effective shooting techniques available.

My firearms training includes Rangemaster Certified Advanced Pistol Instructor and Rangemaster Certified Pistol Instructor under Tom Givens; NRA Certified Instructor in Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun, and a Range Safety Officer. I’m an active USPSA competitor in the Carry Optics division.

Over the past 12+ years I’ve also completed various levels of combative and performance based courses in Carbine, Pistol, Shotgun, Concealed Carry, Small Unit Tactics, CQB Tactics, Force on Force and USPSA, under some of the top instructors in the industry.

Origins

The idea for my business didn’t originate in a “light bulb” moment. It grew from closely held beliefs, fundamental values and the skill I developed preparing and training to operate effectively when responding to emergencies. I applied this to my work as a firefighter in Philadelphia and now as a firearms instructor. It comes from real-world knowledge and hands-on experience that emphasized the difference between exercising a skill while calm and exercising a skill while under stress. It was born from a recognized need for a better, more practical and realistic approach to training that focused on pressure testing skills, building proficiency in shooting fundamentals, marksmanship at various distances, and honing the ability to operate a firearm under physical and mental stress.

Where we train

Based in Philadelphia, PA, 1ST IN runs regularly scheduled open enrollment and private pistol and carbine training classes at the Lebanon County Police Combat Pistol Club, a gun club and outdoor range located at 1855 Russel Road, Lebanon, PA, serving Philadelphia, PA and surrounding Southeastern PA areas, as well as by appointment for both private 1:1 training and group classes at your indoor or outdoor gun range.
