Building target transition speed
You must have the patience to wait for the shot to break and then snap your eyes immediately to the next target.
Engaging multiple targets accurately and efficiently is a skill I see a lot of students struggle to develop. Transitions are a visual skill. The speed comes from how efficiently you pull your eyes off one target and lock in precisely on a small spot on the next target, not by moving the gun faster or harder.
In this video I run the Blake Drill (3 targets, 1 yard apart, at 7 yards). It’s a high performance standard exercise that is designed to develop rapid target transitions. The par time is sub 2 seconds. I run it three times to assess speed, consistency and accountability.
